Photographic Alliance Minutes

April 17, 2008

 

          President Sandi Teague, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.  She asked if anyone had brought supplies for the Art Center.

          Sandi announced the upcoming contest as follows:

             -The Great Arkansas Outdoors - Deadline, April 25th with Grand  Prize of $1,000.00

            -National Wildlife - Deadline July 1st with Grand Prize of $5,000.00 and a total of             $18,000.00 total prizes.

             -Fort Smith Photographic Alliance Annual Contest will be in October.

          Mark Frantz exhibits this month at in the Art Center Stairwell Gallery and Marie Polk is in the Mini Gallery.  In May, Russell and Jackie Popp will be in the Stairwell Gallery and Roy Adams will be in the Mini Gallery.

          At the Janet Huckabee Nature Center, Virginia Wiles and Janet Lyle are displaying their photos. Mark Frantz will be displaying his photos here on May 1st.  Sandi Teague has her photographs on display at Spark’s Hospital and Gwen Haverland will have an opening  for her photographs on June 10th

          Sandi asked for a show of hands for members that brought pictures to hang at the Fort Smith Library.  She passed sign-up sheets for the annual picnic and library.

          Twenty-three people have signed up, at this time, for the Scavenger Hunt.

          On April 19th the club will meet at the Art Center at 8 a.m. to go to the Fort Gibson Heritage Festival. April is the month to go see the Azaleas in Muskogee and this weekend will be the peak.

          The Fort Smith Air Show will be May 17 and 18. Bedford’s will have a booth with a Canon Rep who will have cameras and lenses to loan.

          The Annual Picnic at the Mount Magazine Pavilion will be May 17. We will eat at 5 p.m. The club will furnish the meat and buns.

          George Lepp is coming to Little Rock on June 28 and 29 at the Peabody Hotel. One day will cost $69.00, two days will be $99.00. A list of subjects was handed to those present.

           The Renaissance  Festival will be each weekend in May at the Muskogee Castle. There will be many people dressed in period clothing and there should be a lot of photography opportunities.

          Tonight’s Basic Photography II Workshop was presented by Larry Millican.

          Next meeting on May 1, the contest will be outdoor portrait of person(s) with natural lighting.

          Sandi adjourned the meeting.
